Boxer Shorts, January, 2005 - 3 of 3
December Meeting Minutes
It was cold, but clearing and sunny. The
roads, which appeared dry at the outset revealed
after a few miles occasional patches of black
ice... or were they merely wet? Either way,
prudent bikers left their two wheelers home
in favor of cages and trucks. Mamma, don't
let your babies grow up to be cowboys. Don't
let 'em pick guitars and ride in old trucks.
Make 'em be bikers and YB's and such.
Only 22 bikers braved the elements. Along with the 18 BMW all weather interceptors in the lot there was also a beautiful black Yamaha 500 single, (which later showed its ability to start instantly on command), a Ducati Cagiva Gran Canyon, and two Suzukii, a Vstrom DL 650 and a maroon 800 VX. The very sanitary Village Photo 1949 Chevrolet 3100 Step Side pick'em up truck and a 1991 Petty Blue Mazda Miata showcased the extremes that the other 28 people went to in order to avoid actually riding that day. Total breakfasts sold: 50.
The riding might have been questionable, but everyone was comforted by the warm glow of the rustic ambiance of Stone's. Breakfast was delicious and hearty, as usual, except, there were no sizzling savory snappy skinned sausages. Fred Kolack and the breakfast elves served a fine meal at precisely 8:30. There was the customary Irish soda bread, light, dark, and toasted white with fresh creamery butter; scrambled eggs; French Toast smothered in Stone's special secret Christmas brandy-rum-maple-brown sugar-banana sauce; extra chunky corned beef hash; robust rashers of bacon; baked hickory smoked ham; home fries; melon wedges; fresh orange juice; and endless flagons of rich hot coffee. But, alas, no sausages.
The crowd being a more intimate size than
usual, everyone ate indoors.
Promptly at 9:30, outgoing President Kit Wise launched the business part of the meeting with a remark about the by now ubiquitous clear weather and announcements of upcoming events.

The distribution of the 2004 - 2005 Blue Book is expected to be completed by the end of December. Kit thanked Dave and Kathy Harmacek and Dana Lewis for all their brilliant work in making this the most useful Blue Book ever.
Long time member and official Club Photographer
"PhotogX" Al Latham who is moving
to Willmington, NC and transferring to YB
South was presented with a plaque commemorating
his years as a loyal and hard-working club
volunteer.
Fred Kolack reported on the new book Long Way Round: Chasing Shadows Across the World, by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, which described the adventures of 2 riders circmnavigating the globe on a pair of K1200's as a "nifty read... a fun thing to zip through."
One new member was introduced, Brian Barron from Wellesley, who rides a 2000 R10000RT
Karl Neugerbauer, peddling 50:50 raffles raised $121, providing prizes of $30 each to Tall Steve and Fussy Federico Castellucci.
Secretary and Clerk Bruce Ferguson reported on the annual election results. He'd made up his list and checked it twice, and used the opportunity to keep everyone in suspense just as long as possible, which was not very nice. There was a total of 101 votes cast, 20 of them anonymously. One ballot was late due to the incorrect ZIP code, and one ballot was destroyed along with its protective Boxer Shorts covering during delivery by the USPS.
Maurice Mo Kornreich, running unopposed received 94 votes, handily reelecting him for a second term.
Fred Kolack, running without opposition, received 95 votes, assuring him of a seat in the new administration as Secretary and Clerk. Now who's going to serve the sausages?
Dana Savant d'Tarndirt Lewis, running in a class by himself, surfed back into the office of Vice President on a wave of 93 votes.
And finally, (drum roll, trumpet herald fanfare, etc.) by a vote of 65 to 36, Craig Colt03 Cleasby clinched a close lead over VP Dave ybweb1 Harmacek to sweep to victory as the new President of the Yankee Beemers.
Craig made a brief acceptance speech. Something about riding and doing stuff.

Next month's meeting will be Saturday evening,
January 15, 2005, at the Indian Meadows Country
Club, 275 Turnpike Road, Westborough, MA
01581 Cocktails at 6:00, dinner, meeting
and other magic to follow. There won't be
any sausages there, either.

Part of being courageous is fighting the good fight. But being courageous also means you can stop fighting and accept the inevitable when the time comes. Attributed to the late David Brudnoy, explaining his decision to stop receiving treatment for the cancer that was to take his life within a few hours.
